Andy Stern’s Office Furniture, Inc. provides state-of-the-art office furnishings and design services at competitive prices and our service is unmatched.

Established in 1948, our founder Sam Stern wanted to make a difference by providing customers with top quality office furniture at affordable prices. 

He opened his first shop in Washington, DC by reconditioning furniture pieces for the many offices throughout the area at night and delivering them during the day. Today, customers that need office furniture can visit any one of our two showroom locations and experience that same commitment that Andy Stern’s Office Furniture, Inc. was built on more than 70 years ago.

In 1948 our founder, Sam Stern (back from serving in Europe) opened the first Stern Office Furniture Showroom in downtown Washington, DC.
Sam sold mostly war surplus office furniture which he refinished himself at night and delivered the next day on our first truck.
A few years later Sam’s brother Saul joined him in the business and by the 1960′s they had built a thriving business!
Always innovators, the Stern’s sold some of the first “systems” furniture ever produced in this country. This installation was from the late 1950′s.
The Stern brothers counted many of Washington’s finest businesses among their clients like this major bank they furnished in 1965.
The Sterns became the first office furniture dealer in the Metro area to offer interior design & space planning services to their clients.
By the 1970′s Sam’s son, Andy, had joined the business spending time in each of the company’s divisions learning how the company worked.
In 1975 the company opened a retail division called the Office Furniture Mart that pioneered the concept of in stock, affordable office furniture.
This is the story board for our TV ad. Filmed in January 1988, this commercial ran in the DC Metro Area until late 1989.
By the 1980′s the company had opened a state-of-the-art distribution center conveniently located off Rt. 495 to better serve the Metro area.
By the 1990′s Sam & Saul had retired, and Andy had taken over the company renaming it Andy Stern’s Office Furniture, Inc.
In November 2013 Andy and Sam were interviewed about the history of the company.
Today we use state of the art Computer Aided Design software to design everything from a single office to a whole building. This is a picture of one of our color renderings so you can see exactly what you’re going to receive.
We excel at large projects. This is a picture of a recent installation of over 300 workstations for a big company in Northern Virginia.
In February 2018 we merged with Benjamin Office Supply + Services. Like Andy Stern’s, Benjamin Office Supply – founded in 1981 by Sandy Benjamin – is a local, family-owned business providing hands on personal service.
We now offer our customers a full range of office products including coffee & beverage services, break room supplies, paper, office supplies and Jan/San products. All delivered free the next day on our own fleet of trucks.
